Some of the core activities of the society include, but not limited to:-
- Participation in the development and reviewing of statistics programmes in both local and International universities and colleges in order to provide professional advice.
- Accrediting statistics programmes and institutions.
- Writing proposals for funding
- Running short courses in Statistics
- Consultancy services such as data analysis
- To work in partnership with the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in provision of statistical services as may be awarded by KNBS.
- Participate in mentorship programmes by the senior members (Professors) in the affiliate universities and colleges.
- Production of the society’s Newsletters to keep members updated
- Source for, and if possible provide scholarships to young statisticians who are members at the school or college levels.
- Where possible, provide internship opportunities at KNSS or in collaboration with our cooperate members
- Membership recruitment drive activities such as:
- Providing posters to all institutions
- Setting up Student Statistics Associations in the respective institutions (i.e. Junior KNSS
- Organising visits to the different junior associations/regional associations/branches
- Organising National Statistics Day
